'Spirit Island' by Barbara Girouard Barbara's paintings summon the observer's senses, creating an atmosphere of splendor and a feeling of connectedness to Mother Earth, a feeling she is compelled to share. She attributes this need to her cultural roots from her Metis mother and Polish father. Even before the first brush stroke, Barbara has devoted herself to the emotions that must be transmitted to the viewer. She chooses her subjects and compositions from an intuitive sense that was sharpened by her love of hiking and camping in her native Canada. Beautiful Western Canadian landscapes draw you to a time and place in your heart to evoke peacefulness. Shading and light depict the time of day and allow you to experience the warmth of the sun, freshness of the snow or the pleasant shade of the wooded landscape. Barbara has exhibited at the Spotlight Gallery, the offices of Wood Gundy in Edmonton and at Northwest Originals Show at the Capital "X" in Edmonton. Barbara has lived in four western provinces and currently resides in Alberta. Studied decorative art with Sandy Fochier of "Briar Patch" Stony Plain Alberta. Enrolled with Laura Watmough of "Hidden Talent Art School".
